Custom foot orthotics correct a person's abnormal bio-mechanics, helping to remove pain and improve foot function and alignment. The orthotic prescribed will depend on the foot type – (low vs. high arch), the patient's complaint (ie. Plantar fasciitis, knee or lower back/hip pain), and style of shoe worn ( sport, casual, or dress). Following a consultation/examination, the patient's foot posture is measured and the gait is analysed. A 3 dimensional foot cast can be achieved by taking a foam impression of the foot or by using Gaitscan technology (a pressure plate the patient walks across).
